Amazon has announced an ad format that lets brands feed their own talking points into shopping answers inside Alexa for Shopping, though it is not live yet. Adweek reported on September 29 that Branded Conversations was unveiled at Amazon’s unBoxed event in San Francisco. It launches when a shopper taps a sponsored prompt, and advertisers can add details such as how their products differ from rivals or which items pair well.
Pacvue’s recap of the event says general availability in the US is set for January 2027. Pacvue also says advertisers are charged only when a shopper clicks the first prompt, and that Amazon says shoppers engaging with Sponsored Prompts now convert at a 48% higher rate. That figure describes today’s prompts, not Branded Conversations. The available material does not describe how sponsored answers are labeled or disclosed.
The unanswered part matters for organic teams. If a brand can supply comparison framing, competitors appearing in the same answer face a rival with paid input. Product content still feeds the answer, per Pacvue, so SEO teams should keep it accurate while retail media teams test paid prompts.
