Microsoft is trialing a “Shorts” tab in the Bing search menu, marked by a vertical video play icon, that narrows results to short-form video pulled from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Sachin Patel posted a screenshot of the test on X, and Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz flagged it after being unable to reproduce it himself.
Bing has surfaced short videos within regular results for years, but a named filter tab at the top of the search bar would mark a new, more deliberate entry point for that content. If it ships broadly, it puts Bing closer to how TikTok and YouTube already let users jump straight to short-form video, and it raises the stakes for creators optimizing vertical clips with clear titles, captions and thumbnails across platforms rather than just one.
Microsoft has not disclosed a rollout scope or timing. Sites and creators with active short-video presences on multiple platforms should confirm their video markup and metadata are consistent, since a dedicated Bing filter would reward whichever source is easiest for Bing to identify and rank.
