Microsoft Bing is testing a section labeled “Recommended by” on product results, followed by the name of the company making the recommendations, Search Engine Roundtable (Barry Schwartz) reported on October 2. It is a test, not a launch.

Sachin Patel spotted it and posted about it on X and SEW. Schwartz says he replicated it in some browsers. His example reads “Recommended by GearLab,” with no link to GearLab. The product thumbnails link to various retailers rather than the recommender, and Schwartz says the retailer pages make no mention of GearLab.

That leaves users unable to verify that the brand recommended the products shown, since Schwartz found no links to the source of the recommendation. He called the test “weird” and “super confusing.” He also noted that Google tested a recommended by section for product results in May 2025, and wondered whether Bing is following that.

For publishers who produce product reviews, the open question is attribution. A label that names a recommender without linking to it delivers no traffic to that recommender.

Review publishers should check whether their brand names appear in Bing product results and whether any traffic arrives.
