Bing is testing a new way to show sitelinks. Instead of listing them beneath the snippet, the search engine now sometimes hides them behind a button labelled with the site’s domain. Click it, and a panel opens on the right side of the results page.

Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz spotted two live variants. One shows a standard snippet with sitelinks attached. The other shows a domain panel at the top that also carries them. Schwartz called it “the most unusual interface we’ve seen for Sitelinks on Bing and other search engines like Google.” He said he is not sure he likes it.

Sitelinks are earned, not paid, and they normally expand a brand’s visual footprint on a results page by default. Putting them behind a click shrinks that footprint without a user asking for less. The test is not confirmed as a rollout, but it points Bing further toward panel-driven results pages, not scannable lists.
