Microsoft is testing a hover effect in Bing’s related searches module that fades out every other suggestion when a user points at one. Search Engine Roundtable reported the interaction Friday, citing video posted to X by Khushal Bherwani and a similar clip posted separately by Radu Oncescu. Microsoft has not confirmed the test, and the report rests on those social posts rather than an official statement.
The interaction is a small one, but it targets a real fight for attention. Related searches sit on the same results page as organic listings and already compete for clicks that could go to a site instead. A hover treatment that isolates one suggestion and blurs the rest reinforces the module as a place to keep searching, nudging attention toward another query rather than toward a result.
The test follows a Bing sitelinks change spotted roughly two weeks earlier, another sign Microsoft is reshaping parts of its results page into interactive panels rather than a static list of links.
