Sponsored ads appeared in 47 percent of US desktop ChatGPT chats discussing video games and gaming consoles in June, up from 3 percent in March, according to figures Comscore published September 22 in its Q2 2026 AI Intelligence Report. Toys and hobbies conversations with ads rose from 5 percent to 24 percent over the same period, and books, music, and video categories rose from 9 percent to 22 percent.

Search Engine Journal, which reported the figures, noted the data covers only US PC activity from an opt-in panel and does not disclose conversation counts behind each monthly figure. It is our earlier coverage of this same Comscore report that first covered its AI Overviews reach numbers on September 23, 2026, and this retail breakdown is a separate slice of that dataset.

The panel limits mean these figures describe direction, not scale. Retailers in gaming, toys, and media categories should treat the June jump as an early signal to monitor in ChatGPT ad reporting, not a benchmark to plan budgets against yet.
