We reported yesterday that Google had pulled the help document covering OpenTable reservations inside Google Maps and read that removal as evidence the integration had been switched off. That reading was wrong, and we are correcting it.

Lisa Landsman of Google responded on LinkedIn: “The OpenTable partnership remains active and has not been discontinued. We simply cleaned up our help center articles, this is the correct help center article for Reserve with Google that encompasses all available Reservation partners.” The old page now redirects into that consolidated document rather than returning a 404.

The mistake is worth naming directly: a missing help article tells you something changed in documentation, not that a product feature disappeared. Those two facts get conflated constantly in SEO reporting, and it is where a lot of bad advice originates. Restaurants relying on Reserve with Google do not need to audit their listings or contact Google. Nothing in the reservation flow itself has changed.

Search Engine Roundtable reported the correction, updating its original July 17 report with Landsman’s statement.
