Demand Gen campaigns freshly built in Google Ads now launch with view-through conversion optimization turned on by default, a reversal from the prior setup where advertisers had to enable it manually. The optimizer previously covered only YouTube and Discover Feed; it now extends to Display inventory as well.

Advertisers who build new Demand Gen campaigns will inherit this default without touching a toggle, which can shape early campaign performance before anyone reviews the setting. Per PPC News Feed, the optimizer remains limited to video creative running on YouTube, Discover Feed, and Display, and the feature remains in open beta for any advertiser who wants it.

The catch worth flagging to clients: VTC conversions stay only partially biddable and still do not show up in the main conversions column, so reported performance can understate what the optimizer is actually doing.

Teams launching new Demand Gen campaigns this quarter should check this default before assuming their bidding setup matches what they configured last time.
