Starting October 12, Google Ads will crawl advertisers’ websites for promotions and convert them into promotion assets, Search Engine Land (Anu Adegbola) reported on October 2. Advertisers are opted in by default.
Google describes a system that looks for valid, high-quality offers and builds assets from those that qualify. At launch, eligibility covers Search and Performance Max campaigns that have linked location assets but no promotion assets yet.
After an auto-created promotion starts serving, advertisers can find and manage it in the Assets section of their account. Assets with no impressions stay hidden there. To decline, advertisers open the automated asset settings and switch off Automated Promotions for the whole account.
The practical risk is accuracy, since the system lifts offers from a live site. Search Engine Land advises advertisers to confirm that whatever Google finds matches their current prices, who can claim the deal, and how they want the brand described.
Before October 12, audit the offers visible on your site, and decide whether you want Google choosing which ones become ads.
