Google is warning developers seeking Google Business Profile API access to expect longer waits, attributing the slowdown to application volume rather than a technical outage. Victoria Kroll, posting in the Google Business Profiles support forum, said “due to an unusually high volume of API applications, processing times are currently extended.” She gave no revised timeline, adding only that Google is “working diligently to process all applications.”

Kroll’s guidance cuts against a common instinct: applicants should not resubmit while a request is pending, since duplicate filings add to the same backlog. Once an application is in, she said, nothing further is needed.

Local SEO practitioner Krystal Taing reported on LinkedIn that many developers are stuck at zero API quota with no response, a detail Google’s own forum post did not directly address. Google’s wider Business Profiles help area carries a similar note, citing “higher than usual wait times for support.”

The delay touches any agency workflow that leans on programmatic Business Profile management, from review monitoring to bulk listing edits. Teams awaiting approval should build a manual fallback now rather than assume near-term access.

Barry Schwartz reported the delay for Search Engine Roundtable, based on Google’s forum notice and Krystal Taing’s LinkedIn post.
