Google Business Profile Insights has not populated a single day of September performance data, even though the month is eight days old. The gap affects the analytics panel that local operators use to track how often their listing appears in search and Maps results, and how often that visibility converts into calls, clicks, or direction requests.

This matters because Insights is one of the only first party sources a business owner has for measuring local visibility. Multi location operators who build weekly or monthly reporting around these numbers currently have nothing to work with for the current period, which stalls any comparison against August or against a prior September.

Barry Schwartz, publishing at Search Engine Roundtable, reported the outage on September 8 and included a screenshot of his own Business Profile showing a blank report for the month. Schwartz noted that a short delay of a few days is typical for Insights data, but a full week with zero rows logged is not the pattern he has seen before.

Schwartz pointed to early complaints surfacing on Reddit, though he described the volume as limited rather than widespread as of his report. He offered no confirmation from Google on a cause or a fix timeline, only his own expectation: “I assume Google will backfill the data in the coming days.”

That line is a guess, not a company statement. Google has not issued any acknowledgment of the outage through Search Central or its Business Profile help channels as of this report, and the source includes no independent measurement of how many accounts are affected beyond the one profile Schwartz checked and the scattered Reddit threads he found.

The uncertainty here is structural. Past Insights disruptions have typically resolved through a quiet backfill, with historical data appearing retroactively once Google’s reporting pipeline catches up. But a missing month is a different scale of gap than the usual multi day lag, and nothing in the current reporting says whether September 1 through 8 data will ever populate or whether some of it is gone for good.

For operators managing several locations, this is worth treating as a data integrity risk rather than a display bug. A blank Insights panel does not mean the underlying visibility changed. It means the measurement layer went dark, and any month over month or year over year comparison built during this window will need a caveat until Google confirms the numbers are complete.

Businesses that rely on Insights exports for client reporting or internal dashboards should hold off on finalizing any September comparisons until the historical data reappears, and should screenshot or export whatever numbers do return so a partial backfill can be checked against what was originally missing. Anyone who depends on this data for board level reporting has a ninety day window to build a backup measurement path, whether that is Google Search Console impressions for the Business Profile, call tracking numbers, or a manual log of Maps pack appearances, so a future outage does not leave a full reporting cycle with no source of truth.
