Google Business Profiles is testing a feature that turns a plain-text description of a merchant’s schedule into structured, per-day hours on September 24, 2026. Instead of setting each day individually, an owner types out their hours and an AI model extracts and fills them in automatically.
The interface reads “Set your hours automatically” and prompts the owner to describe their opening hours before Google applies the extracted schedule to the listing. Those structured hours then flow into the business’s Search results panel and its Google Maps listing.
Ayman Ali spotted the test and posted a screenshot on X, saying the feature would spare merchants from manually setting hours for each day and improve the overall experience. Search Engine Roundtable reported the sighting, describing the change as still in testing rather than a general release.
Because the feature depends on Google’s AI reading free text correctly, businesses invited into the test should verify every extracted day against their actual hours before publishing, particularly around holiday closures or split shifts that plain-text descriptions can render ambiguously.
