Google Dataset Search is failing to return anything. Search Engine Roundtable reported on October 15 that the tool has produced no matches for several hours, answering every query with a message that the search “did not match any datasets.”
Barry Schwartz tried the suggested phrases, including [artificial intelligence] and [llm prompts site
.co], and those came back empty too. A reader named Manish told Schwartz the outage had lasted 24 hours. The post does not say whether Google has acknowledged the problem or restored the tool.Dataset Search debuted at Google in 2018 as a way for students, reporters, analysts, and academics to locate public data online. The index draws mainly on dataset structured data. That dependency makes an empty index a notable failure for anyone who publishes dataset markup hoping for discovery. Publishers should hold off on changing their markup in response, since nothing in the report points to a problem on the publisher side.
