Google’s Discover feed no longer appears on the desktop version of Google.com, and Google has offered no public explanation for the change. Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz reported the disappearance, citing an X post from Damien Andell that lists the countries where desktop Discover was still working in June 2026 against the countries where it no longer functions as of September 2026.
Google tested a desktop Discover feed in 2023, confirmed a wider rollout in 2025, and the feature was live on the Google.com homepage as recently as last year. Visiting google.com today returns only the search box and empty space where the feed once sat.
Google has not announced a removal. Schwartz’s report describes the feed as “just does not exist” on desktop now, not as a feature Google confirmed retiring. That distinction matters: an unannounced disappearance, rather than a stated policy change, leaves publishers with no timeline and no path to ask for it back.
Publishers who built distribution around Discover should stop treating desktop as a stable surface and check how much of their Discover referrals already come from mobile, since that is likely the only version of the feed still standing.
