Google Search Console’s Crawl Stats report showed a two day blank spot last week, with entries for August 15 and 16 missing and the chart appearing to jump straight from August 15 to August 18. Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz documented the pattern on August 21, after Glenn Gabe and other site owners flagged the same gap on X a day earlier. Schwartz noted comparable blank stretches have appeared before, in November 2021, February 2022, May 2022 and October 2025, calling them reporting glitches rather than genuine crawling interruptions. Google restored the missing entries on Sunday, August 23.
Teams tracking indexing health through Crawl Stats should treat a sudden gap in the chart as a display artifact first, cross checking server logs before concluding Googlebot activity actually paused.
