Google folded Google Tag Manager’s advanced capabilities directly into Google Tag, giving advertisers one interface for Ads and Analytics measurement setup. Ginny Marvin, Google’s Ads Liaison, announced the rollout on X, describing a redesigned container and product overview built for both new and experienced users.
The update adds no-code event tracking: walking through a purchase flow like a customer triggers the technical setup automatically. A new visual map shows which platforms, Ads or Analytics, are capturing which signals, so teams can spot broken measurement faster. An in-account guide will let advertisers preview changes before publishing to their workspace.
Google says no existing functionality is being removed, only reorganized. Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz noted signs of this consolidation surfaced as early as May 2026.
Teams running dual Ads and Analytics tags should audit their container setup once the new interface reaches their account, before assuming legacy configurations carry over untouched.
