Google has started placing an AI Overview above the stock price chart for direct ticker searches, including queries for GOOG or MSFT, pushing the price widget further down the results page. Barry Schwartz confirmed the behavior after Len Raleigh flagged an example on X on August 24, 2026.

The layout marks a reversal. Gagan Ghotra documented the opposite arrangement on June 22, 2026, when the AI Overview sat below the stock chart on the same type of query. Two months apart, Google tested both orders on results that already carry a fast, structured answer.

Schwartz called the current placement odd, arguing the generated summary adds little when the price widget alone answers the query. For search teams tracking finance-vertical SERPs, the swap is worth logging: a summary block competing with a data widget for the top slot changes what gets clicked first, even when neither module links out.
