Google is testing the return of view counts on Posts inside Google Business Profiles, labeling the metric “people viewed.” Muhammad Hussain flagged the change on LinkedIn, noting a connection could see the count while his own dashboard showed nothing, a sign the test has not reached all accounts.

The feature revives part of Google Posts Insights, a measurement tool Google launched in 2018 and sunset in January 2023, leaving local businesses without a native way to gauge post visibility. Google has separately added view counts to photos and videos in profiles, another element carried over from the retired Insights product.

For local SEO teams, a returning view metric matters less as raw traffic data and more as a signal of whether owners are posting consistently enough for Google to bother resurfacing engagement stats. Barry Schwartz reported the sighting Thursday at Search Engine Roundtable, based on Hussain’s LinkedIn post and screenshot.
