A screenshot circulating on X shows Google emphasizing a phrase inside a featured snippet in pink rather than its usual blue. Sachin Patel posted the image on X and on Search Engine Watch, flagging the unfamiliar color choice.

Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable said he attempted to reproduce the pink highlight and could not get Google to show it. That gap between one sighting and zero confirmed repeats keeps this squarely in test territory, not a shipped design change.

Google has swapped highlight colors in snippets and AI Overviews before, so a stray hue by itself carries little weight. The pattern worth tracking is whether isolated front-end experiments like this correlate with any snippet-eligibility or click-through shifts, which the current report does not address.

Search teams gain nothing by auditing snippet colors today. The more useful ninety-day habit is checking Search Console for any snippet impression volatility that might trace back to unannounced front-end tests like this one.
