Google updated the documentation for its aggregator unit and supplier unit to add local business coverage, Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz reported September 18. Both reference pages now include the phrase “and local businesses” throughout, and Google’s changelog states the units “support local business queries.” The documentation also adds a new line: “For local business queries, see the Local Point of Interest Feed documentation,” pointing implementers to that separate feed. Archived copies of both pages remain available for anyone comparing the before and after. The change follows our earlier report on these DMA-driven units going live for weather and finance queries in the EEA. Local businesses and aggregators operating in the region should review the Local Point of Interest feed documentation to confirm how their listings are meant to qualify.
