LiveRamp said it is now a “technology partner of ChatGPT Ads”, letting marketers activate their own customer records as Custom Audiences inside OpenAI’s ad product. The connection runs through RampID, LiveRamp’s identifier for matching first-party data across platforms. LiveRamp published the announcement on its blog on September 28, 2026.

The stakes sit in data portability. Custom Audiences already exist inside ChatGPT Ads as a way to personalize advertising to customers or prospects using first-party data. What is new is that RampID can now feed that capability, giving marketers a path to move CRM, loyalty and behavioral data into an AI answer engine’s ad product using the same identifier LiveRamp applies across the rest of its data collaboration network.

Marketers can feed CRM records, loyalty-program history, behavioral data, and web or app activity into RampID, then apply the resulting audience inside ChatGPT Ads for three jobs: sharpen who sees an ad, hold an ad back from customers who already converted, and tie ad exposure into a broader measurement stack. LiveRamp calls RampID “the most durable identifier for connecting data in the ecosystem.”

The integration is live in 11 major markets, LiveRamp said, without naming them, and the company plans to extend the capability across every market ChatGPT Ads reaches.

Allegiance Group & Pursuant (AGP) is rolling out the integration for a nonprofit client. Megan Morris, director of integrated media solutions at AGP, said in the LiveRamp post: “We’re continually optimizing the channels we use to reach our customers, and with ChatGPT Ads becoming an increasingly popular engagement surface for donors, it’s important for us to view the omnichannel impact of our ads across all of our investments.” She added: “Through working with LiveRamp and ChatGPT, we’re able to easily reach ChatGPT’s considerable user base, while easily making the right strategic decisions for our strategy and every other platform we advertise on.”

For search marketers, the significance is what an identity-resolution vendor plugging into an AI answer engine’s ad stack implies. LiveRamp pitches RampID as connective tissue for first-party data across the ad ecosystem. Adding ChatGPT Ads to that network means a brand’s CRM and loyalty data can now inform targeting and suppression inside a chat surface, then roll up into the same measurement stack marketers use to judge search and social spend.

LiveRamp’s post does not include any independent measurement of how Custom Audiences perform inside ChatGPT Ads, and it does not describe a consent mechanism for moving first-party data into OpenAI’s environment. A buyer evaluating this integration should ask what match rate RampID achieves against ChatGPT’s user base, what data OpenAI retains once a campaign ends, and whether suppression lists are verified rather than self-reported. LiveRamp said only that it intends to “share results from our work with other innovative marketers, soon.”

Search teams that already run budget on AI answer engines should treat the expanding market list and the new audience tooling as a reason to test suppression and measurement now, before competitors lock in first-party matched audiences at scale.
