Google Merchant Center now has a dedicated video upload path for product listings, separate from the creative content section it added last year for standalone campaigns. The feature, called Product videos, surfaced this week in a LinkedIn screenshot from Arpan Banerjee, according to a report from Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz.

The listed specs are exacting: clips must run between 6 and 240 seconds, arrive at 720p resolution or higher, and stay under 500MB, with support for 9

, 16
and 1
aspect ratios. Google’s own guidance frames the goal as letting shoppers see items from multiple angles rather than a single static photo.

The rollout tracks a broader shift toward video-led product discovery, echoed by TikTok Shop and Instagram Shopping, where retailers already treat short clips as a baseline listing requirement rather than an enhancement. Google has not said whether video presence will factor into shopping ranking or eligibility. Merchants selling apparel, footwear or home goods, categories where fit and texture drive returns, should prepare short-form clips now rather than wait for a mandate.

Barry Schwartz reported the feature for Search Engine Roundtable on September 11, 2026.
