Microsoft Advertising has put a firm date on a bidding field’s API retirement. Starting January 12, 2027, the company will cut off API access to MaxCpc for new campaigns, plus for any existing campaign that is not already using it. The cutoff reaches single campaigns as well as portfolio-level bid strategies, according to Microsoft’s BiddingScheme documentation.
Dormant usage will not be grandfathered in. A campaign that used MaxCpc at some point but has since stopped will not retain access once the deadline passes; only campaigns actively using the field when the cutoff hits keep it. That distinction is the detail most likely to catch teams off guard, since it punishes inactivity rather than protecting past setup work.
Any script, bulk-upload template, or bid management tool that writes to MaxCpc needs an audit before January 12, 2027, since a dormant integration will lose access without warning at the deadline.
