Google Ads has added a written justification step for administrators requesting the removal of another user’s account access. The request, along with the entered reason, now routes to a second administrator for approval before it takes effect.

The change was spotted by Arpan Banerjee, who shared a screenshot on X showing the new prompt. Google has not published documentation describing the rollout scope or timing.

The control targets a narrow but real risk: a single admin quietly cutting off someone else’s access, whether through error, dispute, or account compromise. Requiring a second approver closes that gap for agencies and multi-user accounts, where offboarding and permission disputes are common.

One commenter on X, Greg (@PPCGreg), noted the approval step lacks a defined workflow for edge cases, such as when no second admin is readily available to review the request.

Agencies managing client accounts with only one or two admins should confirm who else can act as an approver before the next access change is needed.

Search Engine Roundtable reported the change on July 14, 2026, citing a screenshot shared by Arpan Banerjee on X.
