Google has begun marking a “What customers love” module inside sponsored results with the label “AI-generated from the store rating reviews,” disclosing that the summary text was produced by AI rather than pulled verbatim from shoppers.
Marketing consultant Sachin Patel documented the label in screenshots shared on X and picked up by Search Engine Watch. The module sits within Google Ads listings and condenses customer sentiment about a merchant’s storefront into a short synthesized line.
This is not Google’s first pass at AI summarization of ratings data. The company already generates AI summaries for store ratings broadly and for review content inside local business panels on Maps. The Ads placement extends that same synthesis approach into paid results, where advertisers have less control over how their reviews get characterized.
For merchants running Shopping or Search campaigns, the label is a signal worth tracking rather than ignoring: any summary generated from review data can misrepresent sentiment if the underlying reviews are sparse or skewed, and unlike organic listings, advertisers are paying for placement next to that AI-written text.
Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz reported the label on September 1, 2026.
