Microsoft Advertising now allows LinkedIn profile targeting that narrows who sees an ad, not only what the advertiser bids. PPC News Feed reported Oct. 27 that Audience campaigns offer a “Target and bid” setting, which serves ads only to users matching the selected LinkedIn profiles.

Until now, LinkedIn data in these campaigns adjusted bids without limiting the audience. The new option applies solely to Audience campaigns. Campaigns for Search, Microsoft Shopping, and Dynamic Search Ads stay on “Bid only.”

To set it up, advertisers open an Audience campaign and ad group, go to Demographics, choose Company, Industry, or Job function, select Add, and pick the targeting setting. PPC News Feed credited Hana Kobzová with spotting the update.

Restriction trades reach for precision. B2B advertisers should test a narrow Target and bid ad group against a Bid only control, and watch whether impression volume falls too far to support conversion data.
