Google Ads has lengthened the window for a beta that cuts costs for Demand Gen advertisers when conversions fall short of what its systems predicted. According to Search Engine Land, updated documentation puts the maximum at 60 days, up from three weeks. The feature remains a beta.
The mechanism targets the learning phase, when limited conversion data makes outcomes hard to forecast. If actual results trail Google’s prediction, costs may be reduced after the fact, nudging performance toward the target CPA or ROAS.
Eligibility is the limiting factor. Google looks at how old and active an account is, how well conversions are tracked, and how bidding and budgets are set up. Clearing that bar does not guarantee an adjustment, and some campaigns may receive one only on certain days.
Reporting is thin. Adjustments show up in cost figures, and Google says a campaign may wait as long as five days after launch before they appear. No separate line item or notification marks when one applied.
Advertisers testing Demand Gen should compare reported spend against expected spend during launch weeks, because that gap is the only visible trace of any adjustment.
