Google is extending ads in AI Mode, its conversational search experience, to more countries and adding ads that appear in follow-up answers for U.S. users, Search Engine Roundtable reported Wednesday. The new markets include Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Singapore. Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom come in the fourth quarter.
The U.S. addition is called multiturn ads. A Google spokesperson told Search Engine Roundtable they show up on responses to later questions as a user keeps talking with AI Mode, under a “Sponsored” label. Google also says sponsored and organic product listings in AI Mode already draw similar click-through rates. The Roundtable write-up includes no figures, and Barry Schwartz questioned whether the claim holds for text links.
This follows our Oct. 19 coverage of a test of personalized ads for Personal Intelligence users. Ad inventory in AI Mode now grows in two directions at once: across borders and deeper into each conversation. Advertisers outside the U.S. should confirm eligibility in their markets now, and U.S. teams should check whether reporting separates first-turn placements from follow-ups.
