Merchants who feed store details to AI shopping agents now do it inside Shopify’s admin, not through a separate app. Search Engine Journal reported Oct. 27 that the standalone Knowledge Base app has been replaced by a Merchant Admin knowledge base, citing Shopify’s Oct. 26 changelog. The old app stops working after Jan. 15, 2027.
The new feature sits under Sales channels, then Agentic, and holds non-product facts such as return policy, shipping times, and brand values. Per Shopify’s Help Center, some entries, including store policies and contact details, publish automatically. Storefront scans can propose further facts, which stay unpublished until a merchant approves them.
Search Engine Journal also noted that stores with more than 1,000 facts in the old app did not have them migrated, so those merchants must re-enter what they want to keep before the deadline.
Policy answers are now a managed asset, not an app setting. Shopify merchants should review what is published, because anything missing is exactly what an agent cannot answer for shoppers.
