YouTube’s Masthead, one of the most prominent placements on the platform, opens to certified online gambling advertisers from October 21, Search Engine Land reported. Sports betting advertisers already had access.

Eligibility has conditions. A brand needs certification under Google’s Gambling and games policy, plus compliance with every legal, geographic, and age restriction that applies. It must also satisfy Google’s gambling rules in each jurisdiction it wants to reach, and hold the corresponding Google Ads certification. Whether approval comes through hinges on the type of gambling, local regulation, and licensing.

One group stays out. Advertisers promoting online gambling content with no mandatory state or national registration duty stay outside the wider eligibility.

The change is not blanket permission. Eligibility can differ widely by country, product, and local licensing. Gambling advertisers should check certification status market by market before planning Masthead budgets, because a license held in one jurisdiction will not carry into another.
