Search Engine Roundtable reported Monday that AI Overviews now appear on more than 80 percent of Google searches, citing data from Semrush, SE Ranking, and seoClarity. Barry Schwartz wrote that coverage was near half of searches last June and around 15 percent a year earlier.

The 80 percent headline blends three different measurements. SE Ranking’s 82.5 percent covers only US brand searches. seoClarity’s Mark Traphagen told the outlet about a month ago that his firm sees AI Overviews on over 62 percent of queries, ranging from 55 to 84 percent by industry. Semrush supplied a live Sensor chart and an industry breakdown.

Our Oct. 23 coverage of a Semrush study, which found 88 percent coverage on a 400-keyword commercial panel, points the same direction. Panels, query types, and dates differ, so the figures should not be averaged into one number.

Teams should measure AI Overviews exposure on their own keyword set, split by query type, before planning around any vendor’s headline share.
