Google Ads now documents a one-click route for testing AI Max against an existing Search campaign. Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz reported the FAQ update on Monday, crediting Hana Kobzová’s post on PPC News Feed.

Eligible accounts may see an experiment recommendation on the Recommendations page. Selecting “Create 1-click experiment automatically” builds a 50/50 split test pitting the base campaign against an AI Max variant, with no manual setup.

Schwartz also believes a second FAQ entry arrived within the past month. It covers experiments built under the Experiments tab, where advertisers can toggle Search term matching or Asset optimization per ad group on the AI Max side, while the control keeps base settings.

The one-click path trades control for speed: it fixes the split at 50/50, while ad group controls sit in the manual setup. Teams unsure about AI Max can now run a controlled comparison before converting campaigns, and should define the success metric before they start.
