A single screenshot suggests Microsoft has started placing paid listings inside Bing’s AI-generated answers. Khushal Bherwani posted the image on X on Oct 30, 2026, describing a Sponsored result inside Bing’s AI Overviews, the Copilot-driven answer panel Microsoft renamed from the Copilot Search box a few months ago.
Search Engine Roundtable, which reported the sighting, could not trigger the ad in its own testing. Microsoft has not announced the placement, so markets, rollout scope, and advertiser eligibility are unknown. One capture from one user is thin evidence, and a limited test is the likeliest explanation.
For Microsoft Advertising buyers, the open questions are whether these units draw on existing Search campaigns and whether reporting will break them out. For organic teams, a sponsored unit inside an answer competes with cited sources for the same attention. Log Bing’s AI answers for your priority queries now, so you can see whether paid listings start appearing above your citations.
