OpenAI appears to be testing a “Learn more” link on some text-based ChatGPT ads, and some ads seem to be served through Amazon DSP, Search Engine Roundtable reported Monday. Brodie Clark spotted the format, which pairs the link with an upward arrow and a dotted underline. It does not appear on every ad.
Juozas Kaziukėnas wrote on LinkedIn that the click URL on some ads passes through an Amazon server used for click tracking, which is why he believes Amazon DSP serves them. He said he has seen no other advertisers using it and little detail on how the integration works. His read is that advertisers buy through the DSP while creative control stays the same as standard ChatGPT ads.
This looks like the visible follow-on to the Amazon DSP pilot we covered on Sept. 14, when Delta Vacations was among the first advertisers. A click path is an inference, not confirmation, and the report includes none from OpenAI or Amazon.
Advertisers testing ChatGPT should inspect their click-through URLs and compare click rates on ads with and without the new link.
