Google has folded prediction markets into its central Google Ads policies document, Search Engine Roundtable reported. Barry Schwartz noted the section appeared last week.
Google has published prediction market advertising rules and updates several times before. Moving them into the central document gives the category a permanent home instead of scattered announcements. We covered state-level restrictions on these ads in July; this text is the platform-side rulebook that sits alongside them.
The section lists four conditions that all must be met. The advertiser must be a licensed prediction market provider with the financial, commodity, or gaming licenses its locations require, including any needed for Google’s certification. Products and ads must follow local law and every other Google Ads policy, and advertisers carry the job of researching regulations wherever they target. The location itself must be eligible for certification. The account must also hold Google’s approval for these ads.
The policy defines the category as platforms listing exchange-traded event contracts, or giving customers access to them.
Advertisers in this space should confirm that account certification and each target location are in order before the next campaign launch.
