Google’s ecosystem carousel is now live across the European Economic Area, adding a row of “related websites” beneath weather, translation, sports and finance results. SEO consultant Lluc B. Penycate confirmed the rollout on X, posting screenshots from both desktop and mobile.
The unit is part of Google’s continuing response to the Digital Markets Act, which requires the company to promote third-party vertical search services (VSS) rather than keep users inside its own data panels. Google’s help documentation describes the carousel as appearing “alongside answers that require data visualizations and interactivity with data, for example, stock charts, weather information, sports scores.”
The launch follows other DMA-driven changes this publication has tracked in recent weeks, including regional search-experience differences Google documented, which this publication covered on September 9. Penycate said the carousel now works for “weather, sports, finance and translation queries across desktop and mobile.”
For sites that compete in weather, finance or sports verticals, the carousel is a new distribution channel worth testing, not just a compliance footnote: appearing in the related-websites row could offset some of the visibility Google’s own panels have long absorbed in EEA search results.
Search Engine Roundtable’s Barry Schwartz reported the ecosystem carousel rollout on September 15, 2026.
