Google has revised its “Control what you share with Google Search” help page so that site owners find their existing options in one place. No new control launched. One new section covers X-Robots-Tag, data-nosnippet, and the robots meta tag, and a second covers the Search generative AI control.
According to Search Engine Roundtable, Google’s changelog describes the edit as keeping the page current with the options available to site owners. The update also made small wording changes confirming the page concerns Google Search specifically.
The practical value is organizational. Teams deciding how much of their content should reach generative answers can now read snippet and indexing directives alongside the AI-specific control, rather than piecing them together from separate documents.
The report does not explain how the generative control behaves. Read Google’s page itself before changing any site-wide setting, then audit which directives each template currently sends.
