The custom date range picker in Google Search Console’s performance reports malfunctioned on October 13, according to Search Engine Roundtable. Barry Schwartz saw the end date stuck at 1969, and attempts to change it returned the message “Date can’t be after 1969-12-31.”

Schwartz found the problem through a post on X from Punit, who saw an end date of 1970-01-01. Both readings sit at the start of the Unix epoch, which points to one underlying date bug.

The preset ranges kept working. Only the custom option failed, so anyone who needed fixed start and end dates was blocked while the preset choices still loaded data.

Schwartz later posted an update at 9

am that the picker was fixed. The outage looks short, and Google has not explained the cause in the source material.

Analysts who hit the error should rerun any custom-range exports from that morning before sending them on.
