Google widened the set of places where ads containing AI-created or AI-edited assets now show visible labels: Vietnam, South Korea, and California are the new entries, according to Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable. Before this change, the list covered only New York, India, and the EU.

Two help documents changed: a Google Ads page covering label settings and disclosures, and the Merchant Center product data specification. The Ads page says that for campaigns targeting the listed locations, ads using assets an advertiser flags as AI made or modified get visible overlays. The Merchant Center page ties the list to regulation, stating that AI rules in those regions require disclosures or labels telling consumers an ad was made with AI.

The label depends on how an advertiser designates each asset, so the designation step now carries compliance weight. Google has not said when the changes took effect, and the documents name no further regions. Schwartz suspects the list will keep growing.

Advertisers running campaigns that target any of these six locations should review how their AI-generated or edited creative and product feed assets are marked before the next campaign launch.
